Long long post on week2
tuesday-
Conscience got the better of me (nah, not really) so i decided to be a nice gf and help jz out with some mailing stuff, which simply involved stuffing letters into envelopes
from stacks of this

to this :)

then it was off to Belmonte's Pizza place to have the last dinner as a leader's life group for the very last time this year, as well as to celebrate jo, evan and jlo's birthdays.
It was my first time there and my goodness...the pizzas were huge, filled to the brim with yummy goodness and 2 pieces of it was enough to satisfy even the guys! Good to go back with a group...very value for money, good quality pizzas (not oily stuff like dominoes, pizza hut etc)
and here the youngest member of the group has be caught playing with fire...tsktsktsk kids these days :P
wednesday
I went into the city for a bit to help hendy out with the toy appeal but there wasn't really much to do so tiff and I went shopping where she somehow managed to convince me to buy a pair of blue-and-white nautical-type stripey shorts. They do fit well and look quite cute i guess... but am still wanting my standard black and white pairs of shorts!
Then larry came over and we baked cherry cheesecake! gwenda: your mum would be proud of how the cake itself came out but we tried it with the tarts and i think we overbaked them a little, and made the mistake of putting the cherries in before rather than after baking it... have a look:
before going into the oven...don't they look simply adorable?
after they came out... not as adorable, but still somewhat cute (in a brown-y burnt kinda way)

cheesecake tartlets plus half the cheesecake :) I think cheesecakes are the ONLY thing I can bake seeing as every other attempt (when not using pre-mix) has failed terribly :( oh well i've found my speciality!

thursday
We decided to go bushwalking for a bit with mark at Bobbin Head. I made the mistake of wearing thongs and so it was quite a long trek down to the water. We got lost once after deciding to follow a grey plastic pipe down, but then got back to the main trail and just kept going down down down...

Along the way we encountered some strange cave creatures...

We stopped by the water's edge to have lunch and take in the views.
It's so peaceful and relaxing just sitting there and staring out into distance...

After lunch we were feeling lethargic and not really looking forward to the 4km trek back up. Mark found the going especially hard...

So we decided to try hitch-hiking for the sake of it and larry stuck out her golden thumb everytime a vehicle came up behind us. After 2 rejections to our surprise someone actually stopped for us! A 1.5hr walk back up turned into a back-of-the-ute wind in my face and hair and all of us absolutely loving it 10min ride back up :D

Thanks to that ride we had energy to go for a swim and laze in the sauna after. Larry and I then made dinner, rented videos (unfortunately they were disappointing and sleep-inducing), did a little good deed and crashed on the bed.
friday
Culmination of my active week. Caught a train with larry into the city (yes, she slept over for 2 nights, hence why i got to see and do so much with her) and met yenzhi for lunch at Madang where she had this really yummy tofu-in-crabmeat-stew thing while I sweated away trying to finish my kimchi stew.

We both wanted to watch The Prestige and got all excited but unfortunately the time was just a bit too late :( So we ended up watching Little Miss Sunshine and the thing that struck me most about it was nearing the end of the movie there was a part about beauty pagents for little girls and oh my goodness they are like miniature barbies which is quite scary seeing what these people are obsessed about :S
Then it was whirlwind time as it was the last bluesky of the year :( Was told 3 days before to organise food, deco and music and so it was quite a rush but everything came together in the end :) Some photos...

Some of us stayed back to have supper with jlo cos it was his birthday... it was a bit weird walking around the city where most people were slightly/fully intoxicated and there was a little too much pre-christmas spirit in the air.
Introducing Jlo! And his 24 krispy kremes that he had to eat for his 24th bday!

Random shot of Paul trying to force feed Paul

I guess some people are avid bloggers while others don't understand why in the world a person would wanna do this...for me it's just a method of being able to keep a record of what I do with my days (especially holidays) rather than post after post of insightfulness and wisdom gleaned from everyday life. Plus pictures always bring a smile back to the face as it provokes memories that might've been long forgotten.
