missing easter camp already...

tried to get this blog done last nite but was too tired... juz came back from easter camp last nite and it was AWESOME! im missing it now, weird cos i've never missed plmc church camps that much, maybe it was cos i was still surrounded by everyone after... so here's a rather long account of every wonderful thing that happened... i don't really know what the best part of it was, but it was all the little things that made it memorable... people, friends, speaker, games (messy) and me being the mole...

easter sunday:
went for the main service, which was basically like the adult form of DIGJC. after lunch i had to pick up a dodgy torch, which was only $4 so that was ok. the bus ride there was pretty long, everyone was talking and sleeping and bus-surfing, which was amusing to watch :) when we finally got there, the campsite was really nice! it's pretty new and there are actually ensuites so that helped! first impression of dinner was that it was pretty good! then it was a gameshow sorta thing, my first chance as a mole lto sabotage my group... we still lost the first round anyway, got 0/10 for arranging the different coles food items according to price. then after a very amusing banzai game thingo, we had the speaker John Smith speak to us. he was really direct and challeged us to do many things, and there was more to come... it was touching to find out that he still came even though his wife was in hospital, cos she wanted him to come... had a relatively early night that night...

monday: the scrambled eggs were a bit dodgy, or maybe just the kind i wasn't used to... then we had the sermon about "walking trees" (mark 8:22) which was quite an eye opener cos i've never really thought about that story in the sense that like the man, sometimes you need to be touched twice so you can really see the world for what is was like... then it was into our discussion groups (which was better than activity grps cos it was according to gg) and then into electives. it was "girltalk" where stuff about BGR was discussed mainly. After lunch there were games, which were a bit random and not all that fun. Can't really remember what I did during free time... Then after dinner, we played "Who Dunnit" and I got a bit too enthu into it and starting helping them instead of making them lose! and somehow we managed to guess the 2 remaining clues right altho it was just random guesses! but only 1 team got the points anyway, so no losses. After devotional with John and some supper I went to bathe, went in and out of rooms for a bit then bed time!

Tuesday: Sermon this time was on "What really matters", and how much we're really willing to give up just to follow in God's path. It's pretty scary when you think about it, cos so many people want God to give them the best life, when in actual fact there has to be trials and tribulations to be able to grow with Him spiritually... After discussion we had to quickly make up a song and rap based on mark 12:28-34, "Love the Lord you God will all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbour as you love yourself", and it turned out pretty well even though it was thought up in 10 mins. There was a slight change of plans and I don't think we ever got the Q&A session. The bushwalk after lunch was fun tho, not too tiring and we did some meditation up there... I followed Kate and learnt the chorus bit of dance moves for "Inspiration" but didn't join in to perform for the next night cos it would've been troublesome for them. Then brought Evelyn to see the cows with Kate... scenary was juz so pretty and peaceful. That night is was ministry night. We started with about an hour of worship with songs and music, then John started his sermon. Later he asked people to stand up if they wanted to 1.accept the Lord for the first time, and 2. ask God to help them lead a holy life so that when he reveals their calling they will be prepared , that was when I stood up. after all that John has said, I felt really challenged to actually do something towards my goals in life, while keeping an ear and heart out for what He wants me to do. I can't just sit around and wait for stuff to happen tho, cos God only helps those people to help themselves. It was a touching nite, seeing people praying and all...

Wednesday: after the sermon by John on mark 5:1-20. the thing about John is that he uses these stories I've read about before and not given much thought to it, and sheds a whole new light onto it. great man... after discussion and tea i went for the stress elective which Andy did. It was quite helpful-- talking about external, internal and integrated ways of de-stressing...looks like I'll hafta start excercising again! then it was messy games!

first up was mish's ice-cream and strawberry sauce thingo, where i managed to get those 2 sweet foods all over my face and into my ears! then we had this shaking the lemonade can fizz activity, and had to smear vegemite onto the can! stinks! 3rd activity was quite smelly and messy. we had to crawl thru these 3 plastic bags which had fish sauce, ketchup, oil etc inside them, and it was quite...ewww... i tried to go really slowly to make my team lose, but the others went too fast! got hit in the knee when matt jumped thru the last one and came to a crashing halt against my leg, and later he even thought i'd put it there on purpose! anyway, after that we had bran-throwing competition. i was the first one to go for my team, and was blindfolded. mark was directing me to aim at brendan, but when it came time to throw, it was wayy off ;) Lastly we had to dip our face into this flour-water paste then dip it into another bucket full of reused chickpeas&greenpeas and get as many onto our faces as possible! i dipped my face in as lightly as i could to not get any, but then matt alone got more than the whole other team combined?! then it was food fight!! before that people like darren and tim had already smeared weird sauces onto me, and alarice stuff something down the back of my tee... everyone was so dirty!

had to take a long shower just to get everything off and not smell like mushy bran anymore. poor may had to take 4 showers in 4 different bathrooms! then all of us(year 12 girls) decided to merge DG (discussion grp) and think of a skit. It's cool when thoughts really start to flow and we finally decided on a skit and song paying out guys and their pick up lines :P

that night there was a cool dinner with everything nicely decorated and the leaders serving us our food. then came the time to vote the mole. the tribe were convinced it was amanda lees cos of the clue "baking cakes" and so I was initially relieved, but then amanda p started talking to darren and i was a bit freaked that they'd gotten wiser. but luckily when mon asked for the mole suspects they went ahead with amanda. mon knew that they were wrong, while the other team had been right, so she asked for the lights to be turned off, and everyone who wasn't the mole to stand. but then the mole stood up as well, so she told the RS mole to step to the centre of the circle, and everyone cheered. Now it was the case that if my team had gotten me right, we'd come in first, but if not, we'd be dead last. And mon knew that, so she stated that fact, then asked the Krang mole to step out. At that time my heart was pounding pretty much, and butterflies all over my stomach! With a deep breath I walked into the centre of the circle. Everyone screamed. They couldn't believe it! The look and reaction from everyone was just priceless... should've savoured the moment... then mon started explaining how "baking cakes" and "plain" related to me. "camellia is the name of a flower, and you need flower to bake cakes. Also, plain flower is also used to bake cakes" and everyone was like -_-" Was crowded by people who wanted to know what i'd done, but I was still trembling a bit, so had to sit down and take a deep breath.

Later that night it was "Broadway @ Waterslea", and that went pretty well. There were funny skits, random skits and juz some lame skits. I must say ours went pretty well, with the pay-outs and all. Except when I got up, the guys at the front were like "mOley moley moley!" geez...wonder when people would ever not rub it in! But that night was just awesome, and after that I stayed up to write encouragement cards. Was running back and forth between writing them and playing DDR to keep myself awake! Didn't write to everyone, but most year 12s, and that was alright I suppose. brendan was right when he said that most of the notes I'd get would contain the word mole inside!

Thursday: it was sad to leave the camp. Really didn't want to. missed the people and scenary and activities and sermons... the bus ride back was pretty short i'd have to say, or maybe it was cos I was sleeping a bit. But everyone took photos, except meee! Why didn't I think of bringing a disposable camera along?! -_-" anyway the memories are here and in my mind forever...

**this entry was finished 2 days after I came back, and I still miss camp!!**
